Getting a new roof is an exciting experience! Before we arrive, we want to ensure that you are prepared so that we can provide you with a seamless experience. Below are a few things you can do before our arrival to ensure that you are ready for DMB to begin the roof replacement process:
1) Remove Anything of Value or Fragile from the Walls
The vibrations from hammers and machinery on your roof may travel through some walls of your home, especially if any plywood is rotten and needs to be replaced. Please consider any knick-knacks, pictures, or other items that are hanging from your ceiling or walls.
2) Remove all Vehicles from Driveway and Garage Prior to our Arrival
We need easy and quick access to our tools, the dumpster, and trucks throughout the day. We also need a place to load shingles and debris, which is where we will place our dumpster trailer. You’ll want to keep your vehicle is at a safe distance from this area until work is completed. We recommend moving your car out of the garage just in case you need to leave throughout the day. It would help if you also kept your garage doors closed during construction to keep out dust and debris.
3) Move Outdoor Furniture and Garden Pots
Our roofers will be disposing of your old shingles during the roof replacement process, along with other debris items. You will want to keep your furniture, or anything else valuable that is outside, a safe distance from this area until our crew is finished. Otherwise, we have no problem doing this for you the morning of!
4) Turn Sprinkler System Off (If Applicable)
This one is pretty self-explanatory! You wouldn’t want your new roofing material getting wet, and you also wouldn’t want to shower our crew. If possible, please mark locations of any sprinkler heads with flags if you have an in ground sprinkler system. We wouldn’t want to run these over with our wheelbarrow.
5) Turn off Your Air Conditioner (If Applicable)
We place a tarp over your air conditioner so that no dust or debris can get in during the roof replacement process. Please be sure your air conditioner is turned off upon our arrival tomorrow morning.
6) Avoid Letting Pets or Children in the Yard
While it may be exciting to watch from a safe distance, work zones are extremely unsafe for children and pets. Please have a talk with your children to explain that certain areas of the home or yard will be off-limits until the project is complete.
7) Please Make PLans to be Home the Morning of the Roof Replacement
Please plan on being home the morning of the roof replacement at least until 11:00 AM. You are welcome to leave after the roof is torn off, but we prefer if homeowners are around in case we find rotten plywood. If you’re home and we find any plywood that needs to be replaced, we will bring it to your attention and show you the areas that need to be replaced.
